I had been looking forward to this day ever since I photographed an engagement session with Kaleb and Carly about a year before. I was sure it was going to be magical from the moment I arrived at the King family cabin the morning of the wedding. Carly and her dad wanted to practice dancing for the reception that night. As soon as the song came on, they danced in a way that made love fill the entire room. My eyes started watering profusely as I was looking through the viewfinder of my camera. A little embarrassed, I looked over at my husband Denis on the other side of the room (who is always my second shooter) and his eyes were looking quite tear-filled too. It was such a beautiful moment to witness the love and pure joy between a father and his daughter and I couldn’t help but think of how it mirrored our heavenly Father’s affection for us.
Indeed, the rest of the day was full of moments like this.
It’s amazing because I, a stranger compared to others that surround the bride and groom on their wedding day, get to be part of the family for a day. I see the wide range of emotions that occur throughout the course of one of the most important days in a couple's lives. And.. although the job is perhaps a bit stressful at times, I couldn’t imagine anything more rewarding than to put into image the love, respect and dedication of two souls committing to a lifetime together.
